Jamal Uddin Ahmed, born in 1955, is a distinguished Bangladeshi artist and professor known for his remarkable contributions to fine arts. In 2019, he was honored with Bangladesh's prestigious Ekushey Padak, recognizing his outstanding artistic endeavors. His artistic repertoire showcases a wide range of subjects, including pigeons, horses, boats, gypsies, flood victims, fishermen, marine life, and mystic troubadours, each depicted with great intricacy. Employing a unique technique, Ahmed combines soft pastels, thin acrylic dust layers, and charcoal to craft his artworks, resulting in captivating textures and a mystique aura on the canvas. He graduated from the University of Dhaka's Faculty of Fine Arts in 1978 and furthered his artistic education with studies in Poland and Japan. Currently, he holds the position of a professor at the University of Dhaka and serves as the president of Bangladesh Charushilpi Sangsad since 2019. Ahmed's work has garnered international acclaim, showcased in exhibitions across various countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, India, and the United Kingdom.
