Asmita Alam Shammy, a Bangladeshi artist born on January 15, 1978, resides in Dhaka. She completed her M.F.A. 1st class from the Department of Graphics, Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata and did her B.F.A. (Hons.) 1st Class First Position from the Department of Printmaking, Institute of Fine Art, University of Dhaka. Asmita has participated in many exhibitions such as An Exhibition on a Chronology of Printmaking, 100th birth celebration of Shilpaguru Shafiuddin Ahmed at the Faculty of Fine Art, University of Dhaka in 2022, "Migration and Empathy" International group art exhibition held in Bursa, Turkey in 2019, Fraternity and Aesthetics in World Art, Istanbul 2016. Group exhibition in 2016. She has won many awards for her work which includes Best award, media pencil, Annual art exhibition arranged by Institute of fine art, University of Dhaka in 2000, Award for best graphics in open category, Annual Exhibition of Academy of fine arts, Kolkata in 2007 among others.
